Parentoni Advogados, in a voluntary, free, and occasional capacity, makes its specialized team in criminal law and jury trials available to defend individuals who are economically disadvantaged through the Pro Bono modality, promoting their citizenship and access to justice.

The project is named in honor of the firm’s intern, Aurélio, who was a former inmate of the Rio de Janeiro prison system, moved to São Paulo, started a family, became a law student, and made exceptional contributions to solving the firm’s demands with his life experience, as a student and thinker of law, and passed away before graduating.

1st ANNOUNCEMENT 01/24 – PRO BONO PROJECT “ANTÔNIO AURÉLIO SOARES (AAS)”

The Antônio Aurélio Soares (AAS) Project aims to provide free legal services to individuals who cannot afford to hire a lawyer, i.e., those in situations of economic vulnerability. This pro bono legal assistance will be offered under the following criteria and guidelines:

Legal assistance will be provided free of charge by the lawyers of Parentoni Advogados, under the leadership of Dr. Roberto Parentoni;

The target audience of the AAS Project is limited to natural persons with final criminal convictions (no longer subject to appeal), as well as those prosecuted for intentional crimes against life, following the procedure of the jury trial;

Cases at the time of flagrant offense or in the police investigation stage will be disregarded. However, this does not prevent reapplication when there is a pending criminal action;

Individuals with a monthly family income exceeding 3 minimum wages do not meet the criteria of economic vulnerability and are not eligible for case analysis;

The decision to accept or reject the case is solely at the discretion of the firm. It will be based on the criteria listed in this announcement and others that may arise after case analysis;

Correct completion of the form provided at the end of this announcement is an essential requirement for case analysis. All information provided will be protected by confidentiality and is the responsibility of the applicant;

In addition to these provisions, the rules set forth in the Statute of Advocacy, Code of Ethics and Discipline, and other applicable norms apply.
